Senior CDM Co-ordinator

ERS have a Client who is actively seeking a Senior CDM Co-ordinator.   The project is to build a major research facility.  This is highly complex incorporating a number of sub-projects ranging from R&D aspects, through manufacture and assembly of substantial, novel technology items through major facility design, build and commission.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candiate will support our multi-discipline nuclear and defence teams based near Reading.  They must have knowledge of the new CDM Regulations and must be capable of overseeing design work by our team in respect of our CDM obligations.

It is likely that candidates will have several years experience as a Planning Supervisor on medium sized projects.

Ideally, the successful candiate will be a member of a health and safety related professional institution, for example membership of the CDM Co-ordinators Register operated by the Association for Project Safety, or the Institution of Constructional Safety. [Previously Planning Supervisors Registers] or a relevant NEBOSH certificate are desired for this role.

Candidates must have a thorough understanding and experience of health and safety in design and defence, together with good interpersonal skills and an understanding of the design process associated with buildings.

Experience of nuclear and defence projects, particularly the defence sector would be an advantage although not a necessity.

The post will involve all aspects of constructional health and safety related to providing professional services for [initially] a confidential Client. The post-holder will be required to:

Advise the Client on duties under all aspects of construction H&S legislation, particularly The Construction (Design & Management) Regs 2007. Advise and assist Designers on the elimination of risk at source and mitigation against residual risk in designs.

Manage the flow of H&S information between Clients, Designers and Contractors.

Produce relevant, informed H&S files in accordance with the CDM Regs 2007.

Undertake assessments of contractors’ health and safety performance and provide reports to assist in performance monitoring.
