Rigging Engineer

A Rigging Engineer is sought for a position in China. 10-15 years of experience in rigging and heavy lift operations and at least 2 years nuclear experience would be desirable.

Job Responsibilities

The Rigging Superintendent will implement and administer the Rigging Program for the Site Project Management Office (SPMO) on a major international nuclear project.

Will provide technical assistance and data to the Field Engineering Manager in preparation of Rigging packages.

Review and comment on Subcontractor rigging and lifting packages and specialty designed lifting devices including review of lifting plans and calculations.

Approve both non-critical and critical Lift Rigging packages.

Inspect all slings, rigging hardware and rigging equipment in accordance with ASME standards for wear identification and damage prior to their use on each lift.

Conduct and document pre-lift briefings with members of the rigging crew, the operator and other affected parties to identify the specific tasks to be accomplished by the responsible crew members.

Verify riggers and operators are qualified, competent, experienced, of good health, meet training requirements and have proper tools and equipment.

Comply with the Shaw EH&S Program manual and assure the Safety Manager attends pre-lift briefings.

Control all aspects of the left once it has been initiated.

Recognize the Stop Work Authority of the rigging crew and secure the load if any crew member feels there is imminent danger.

Ensure the requirements of the Rigging package are met during the lift.
