Senior Explosives Safety Advisor

ERS have a Client who is seeking a Senior Explosives Safety Advisor to provide specialist explosives safety services including policy, standards, guidance, competency and training, compelling advice, ensure implementation and assure compliance through monitoring and review.

Job Responsibilities

Develop and maintain policy, arrangements, standards, guidance and training for explosives safety and other allocated areas.

Ensure implementation of arrangements.

Assure compliance with legal, relevant good practice and company standards within explosives safety and other allocated areas.

Manage services relating to the health and safety legislation tracking.

Act as the company’s Health & Safety Coordinator with Ministry of Defence Police (MDP).

Provision of compelling health & safety specialist advice.

To provide the technical content of and advise on Company safety arrangements, including documentation, in area of technical responsibility, in order to meet legislative requirements, good practice and customer needs.

To provide services in the production and implementation of business requirements in relation to explosives licensing, storage, manufacture, use, transport, security, development of company sites, safety cases, engineering justification, construction, decontamination, decommissioning, demolition, staff and contractor deployment.

Project manage and deliver services provision relating to explosives safety and other allocated technical areas.

Independent safety assurance through appropriate mechanisms, including monitoring, inspections, Acceptance (peer) Review, incident/accident investigation as may be required, auditing.

Manage and provide services relating to the identification of health and safety legislation, influencing, impact assessment and implementation tracking.

Provision of services, to agreed Terms of Reference, for Head of Security and Head of Health & Safety in relation to health & safety coordination between the company and MDP.

Development and implementation of competence standards and training for explosives workers/managers.

Provision of specialist advice to the Company Explosives Safety Authority, Head of Health and Safety, Head of Assessment & Review and others as may be required.

Provision of a technical service to other Assurance Managers and Business Areas Assist with establishing closer working relationships with industry and benchmarking.

To operate within the company standards relating to Security, Quality, Environment, Safety and Health.
